Day 37

Today I changed my office from the lounge room floor to the dining room table. I spread out all of my papers, had a note pad with a 'to do' list next to me, and knuckled down!!

It's amazing how such a small change can increase your productivity and motivation! When you have your own business (or two) it's very easy to get distracted by TV, cleaning or the mailman. So to have a productive work space where you can block out the everyday distractions is so important. It's so simple too! But to have the discipline to is another thing. But today it hit me - I have been told so often to do this, but haven't - generally because it 'was too hard'. What do you do to be productive?

I make a to-do list everyday, but for the first time today I made a "realistic" to-do list. With achievable specific tasks. I'm so used to writing a vague list, like 'write emails', 'complete curriculum', 'clean house'. Instead today my list looked more like 'write ___email', 'complete lesson 2 curriculum', 'vacuum' and 'clean stove'. Anyone that is task driven will know the satisfaction of ticking off tasks and will also know that you continue to add tasks as the day goes on.

Do you know? Everyone and anyone can give you advice. And you can do all the reading and research you want to…But no one can MAKE you do it. You need to do that yourself. You need to have the strength to make that decision and stick to it. So change around your office to be more productive, turn off the phone, put your slippers on…or do whatever you need to to motivate yourself to complete your achievable tasks list..

Day 36

How amazing is it to hear from an old friend. Someone you haven't heard from in years! And you pick up where you left off. And you know the best thing? It doesn't matter why people call - they may be asking your help, have a question, be reminiscing, or just calling because they found your number.

It's lovely to have the ability to chat and not be judgemental. It's great! And it makes you realise that you can make an impact on everyone that crosses your path. Which gets you onto thinking about the type of person you would like to be when someone calls out of the blue. What impact did you make on someone? Was it a good one?

It's funny, as much as we all don't like to be judgemental or form opinions of someone when we meet - first impressions do count! I mean, isn't that what attracts you to talk to someone? I don't mean looks, I mean attitude and their overall charisma (?) I can't find the right word. It's that thing that draws you toward someone. I look at it being a inner confidence - someone that is happy with who they are and what they stand for.

I can talk to anyone (most people who know me know that!!) and it really comes down to interest and how someone holds themselves (age, sex, economic status, clothes etc are irrelevant). I may not agree with everything they believe in, however I would rather have a discussion with someone who understands their own morals than someone who is lost, or bends toward what you believe (the 'yes' people).

The most important thing is being ok with who you are and believing in yourself. We all have our own morals and they may differ from the next person but if you are happy and comfortable with them you will attract the type of people you want in your life. And leave a positive impact on the people that cross your path.

Day 35

Why is work considered work? We should love what we do, considering how much time we spend at work..I mean over the course of our life time you spend a third of it at work. This is fascinating, and so much pressure is put on us to succeed or have a job that pays a lot. But nothing is really ever said about love and fulfilment. Why can't you have a job that you enjoy and thrive on? You shouldn't need to decide between success or love - it should come hand in hand. If you find something you are passionate about you'll succeed BECAUSE you love it!

I spent this morning talking about a few of my passions..inner nutrition (herbalife), outer care (nutrimetics) and dog training (playful paws). And I LOVED every minute of it! I think the other confusing thing when you are travelling on your life journey is that you can only have one passion to be successful. I am not like that. I thrive and love being able to share a few aspects and passions..and do them well.

The other thing to consider is timing. Accepting when something happens at a certain time, is meant to. An opportunity may cross your path many times throughout your life, but only when you are ready to seize it will the opportunity really become clear.

If you don't know what you want or need to be doing - that's ok. It will come to you. Or maybe what you seek enjoyment in is pursuing outside activities. Or maybe not knowing is half the fun and part of the life journey - to try new adventures! The average person will change careers 7 times over the course of a lifetime. Never fear…everything will work out the way it's meant to!! :)

Yep! Selfie appreciation photo! :)

Day 34

Phew!! Another day over…a new one just begun… (oh I did just start singing a Christmas carol in my head…I'm sure you all did too!!!)

Day 34 photo: A beautiful speedy sunset!!
Had a gorgeous full day today. Talked to some close friends (which is always a feel-good thing), had a physio appointment, visited a friend then got to spend the evening with my sister and niece who were kind enough to take me down to Traralgon for another MRI..this time on my foot!

This will be a short one again today, as today is nearly over!! :) Today I am grateful for the beautiful people I have in my life, and for the support and assistance they have given me. I am lucky and blessed in so many ways, especially to have a fantastic support around me, who seem to know when to pick up the phone and have a chat :)

Day 33

I hope everyone is having a magnificent day! I had a lovely day hanging out with buddy, doing chores and relaxing!! :) what a day for it!

Today's will be a short and sweet one (unfortunately no photos) because my internet is down and I'm writing on my small phone screen!!! ;)

I think today's big lesson is to love your own company and have some time by yourself! I feel great after watching the rosella birds, buddy playing ball and the drop in visitors from work! It's important to take some time out to have a look at the big picture and put things in perspective.

"Learn to be alone and like it,
There's nothing more powerful and
Empowering than learning to like your
Own company."

As women and men we don't take time for ourselves..most of the time we don't have the luxury to have a whole day...even 10 minutes is great for recharging the batteries . I'm sure there's a few nineties each day that we can put aside for ourselves!!

Day 32

I had a tough day today. I like to see the positives and focus on them. I pride myself on being positive and happy so I tend to push away the negative emotions (sad, stressed, anxious, worried, frustrated, etc) and use energy to not recognise them.

What I realised today (with some help) is that yes, I am a positive person, however I also experience negative emotions - and that's ok. When I started to think about this more it's a bit like day/night..they go hand in hand. You can't have daylight without night time. You have negative emotions, but positive AT THE SAME TIME. You can never get rid of the negative (or positive) only accept they are both OPTIONS. If you are in the 'negative cycle' you can sit with it and accept it and choose to then jump onto the positive and move on. This can be straight away or you can sit with it for a day.

It's interesting and difficult to allow yourself to be 'okay' with not being okay. But nice to realise that it's a feeling or emotion and it'll pass, if you don't resist it.

There is so much out there about positive thinking and mantra's. But not much about accepting the other feelings that happen. As I have said before we are a whole. We are everything combined. Most importantly though..we are NOT our thoughts. They are thoughts…and most of the time we need to let them drift away.

It's a really fascinating topic, and one I think we should all explore further..

Day 31

Photo 31: A new trick "embarrassed"!!
Buddy has been working on a new trick "embarrassed" where he puts his paws over his nose. (He can only do one at the moment!!) I realised today, I need to have my camera more often and take photos - since it is one of the reason I started this blog! Instead you get bombarded with photos of my fur-baby (as a good friend would say)…I need to get out more!!  hehe. However the wisdom in this is to appreciate what you have right in front of you. You often don't need to go ridiculous lengths to find beauty, fun and smiles - if you stop and look around you there will be plenty!

The beautiful birds on the front lawn digging up worms was keeping me entertained for at least half an hour this morning! Buddy "burying" his bone or hiding it from the birds by pushing grass over it. My niece and nephew dancing in the lounge room (in their undies!!). Looking out the lounge room window. It's amazing when you stop and 'live in the moment' and practice not allowing other thoughts to 'ruin' or intrude, you appreciate the little things. 'Stop and smell the roses' has a whole new meaning to me!

Have a practice..you'll feel so much lighter and relaxed!! :)
